Join UCLA Black Alumni Association for an evening of elegance and splendor as we celebrate 100 years of Black Bruin excellence by honoring Black Bruins who have achieved historic firsts, blazed trails in their respective industries and continue to make their mark on humankind through service.
Held at the beautiful Omni Hotel and Resort in downtown Los Angeles, guests will enjoy delicious dinner, live artist performance, award ceremony, fellowship and reconnecting with UCLA Black Alumni, and after party! The VIP Reception begins at 6pm and is by invite only. The Gala & Award Ceremony begins at 7pm.
UBAA was established in 1968 and is the oldest Alumni Affinity group associated with UCLA. UBAA’s alumni include Humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Ralph Bunche, Baseball trailblazer Jackie Robinson, Former LA Supervisor Yvonne Braithwaite Burke, Track greats Jackie Joyner Kersee and Florence Griffith Joyner, the first and only Black Mayor of Los Angeles Tom Bradley, Tennis great Arthur Ashe, career leading NBA scorer and author Kareem Abdul Jabbar, current LA Dodger Dave Roberts, Oscar and Emmy nonimated director Ava Duvernay, and Black Lives Matter Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors.
There are also sponsorship opportunities for businesses and individuals that would like to contribute to development of the Black Bruin legacy for the next 100 years.
The Winston C. Doby Scholarship Fund is administered through the California Community Foundation. UBAA is a registered 501 c (3) in the State of California and all donations benefit African-American students enrolled at UCLA, and are tax deductible.
